Job Details:-
1. SCIENTIFIC OFFICER (C) : One Post [Unreserved] ; Pay Band (PB-3) : Rs.15600-39100 + Grade Pay : Rs.5400/- ; TME : Rs.38,970/- ; HQ : Mumbai.
Qualification : M.Sc. (Astronomy/Physics) with minimum 60% marks.
Experience : 2 years experience in research environment.
Desirable Qualification & Experience : (i) Experience in radiation detectors, data handling. (ii) M.Phil (Astronomy/Physics) + research experience of 2 years. (iii) M.Sc. + Research experience of 4 years. (iv) Knowledge of the programming in Fortron, C++ and IDL on Linux and Window platform. (v) Knowledge of the radiation detectors and background simulation codes. (vi) Aptitude for experimental astronomy. (vii) Knowledge of the basic electronics.
Job Description : i) Candidate will work in the area of space astronomy using satellites and balloon borne instruments. (ii) Job assignment will include development and fabrication of X-ray Gamma ray detectors, calibration, test and evaluation using simulation techniques and data reduction. (iii) He/She will be required to go to field stations of the Institute and the ISRO Centres for experimentation and other duties as and when required.
Age : Below 28 years. Relaxable for candidates with more experience and qualifications.
2. SCIENTIFIC ASSISTANT (B) : One Post [Unreserved] ; Pay Band (PB-2) : Rs.9300-34800 + Grade Pay : Rs.4200/-; TME : Rs.24,435/- ; HQ : Mumbai.
Qualification : Essential : i) B.Sc. (with Physics or Chemistry as one of the subjects) with minimum 60% marks OR SSC/HSC and Diploma in Engineering (with specialization in electronics and computer science or in biomedical engineering) with minimum of 60% marks. (ii) Knowledge of use of personal computers and their applications.
Desirable : Good working knowledge of modern optics, with a keen interest in working with lasers.
Job Description : The candidate will be expected to actively participate in interdisciplinary experimental research in atomic, molecular, optical and biological physics.
Age : Below 28 years.
3. SCIENTIFIC ASSISTANT (B) : Two Posts [Unreserved] temporary for two years for Astrosat Project; Pay Band : (PB – 2) ; Rs.9300-34800 + Grade Pay : Rs.4200 ; TME : Rs.24,435/- ; HQ : Mumbai.
Qualification : Essential : i) SSC/HSC and Diploma in Electronics or equivalent with minimum 60% marks. (ii) Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications.
Desirable : i) 2 years’ experience. (ii) Knowledge of CAD design, Package testing & hardware wiring with SMD.
Job Description : To work on LAXPC payload on Astrosat, candidate will have to work at field stations of TIFR, DAE and ISRO for prolonged periods.
Age : Below 28 years.
4. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (B) : One Post [Reserved for Other Backward Class] ; Pay Band (PB-2) : Rs.9300-34800 + Grade Pay : Rs.4200/- ; TME : Rs.24,435/- ; HQ : Mumbai.
Qualification : i) Graduate with 55% marks. (ii) Knowledge of use of personal computers and applications.
Experience : Five years experience in administrative/accounts field in a large and reputed organization.
Desirable : i) Knowledge of typing (typewriter or PC Keyboard) with minimum speed of 35 wpm. (ii) Knowledge of scientific/mathematical typing. (iii) Knowledge of shorthand.
Age : Below 33 years.
TME : Total Monthly Emoluments.
Higher starting salary could be considered for deserving candidates. Candidates are liable to be transferred to other Centres/Field Stations of the Institute, if required.
General Information : Appointment for the posts at Sr. Nos. 1 & 2 will be initially for a period of three years., including probation period of one year.
Prescribed age should not exceed as on January 1, 2010.
Selected candidates for the above posts at sr.nos. 1, 2 & 4 will be governed by the New Pension Scheme applicable to the Central Government service (unless they are already governed by CCS (Pension) Rules 1972).
